HENN is an international architecture office with offices in Munich, Berlin and Beijing and 65 years of expertise in the fields of culture and office buildings, teaching and research as well as development, production and masterplanning.
The office is led by Gunter Henn and nineteen partners. 350 employees – architects, designers, planners and engineers – from 30 countries are able to draw upon a wealth of knowledge collected over three generations of building experience in addition to a worldwide network of partners and experts in a variety of disciplines.
This continuity, coupled with progressive design approaches and methods and interdisciplinary research projects, forms the basis for a continual examination of current issues and for a consistent design philosophy. Forms and spaces are no mere objective, they are developed from the processes, demands and cultural contexts of each project. As a general contractor we are able to satisfy this principle at every stage of project planning and implementation.
The new company headquarters of Continental consolidates all the facilities formerly spread across the city in one location, simultaneously marking the eastern approach to Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony. The site encompasses a campus-like freestanding development, consisting of individual buildings connected to each other via bridges.
The central element of the design idea is the “Loop”, which symbolically embodies the power of communication and cooperation.
The new Zalando Headquarters' a duo of buildings designed to form the heart of the corporate campus at the new site in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The project’s two seven-storey buildings provide 42,000 m² of office space
for 2,700 employees.
The plan layout rotates the building grid diagonally to the development plan thus placing the internal courtyards at the outer edges of the plot. This opening creates transitions between office and public space.
Refurbishment of the HVB Tower
The HVB-Tower is a futuristic architectural icon which has shaped Munich’s skyline since 1981. The listed building, which was planned by the architects Walther and Bea Betz, was energetically refurbished and the interior rooms completely restructured by HENN. The particular challenge lay in the exact preservation of the building’s external appearance while meeting the demands of a modern, energy-efficient building envelope.
