The new district ‘Inselspitze’ (‘tip of the island’) is intended to mark a transition between the dense development of Offenbach harbour and the future ‘Park in the Dunes’. The design achieved first place in an investor selection procedure. The working team consists of Gustav Zech Foundation and the ‘Deutsche Wohnwerte’, in collaboration with schneider+schumacher and Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl. The concept combines workspaces, a hotel, gastronomy, leisure and recreational activities.

FAIR Accelerator Facility, Darmstadt/Germany

The Darmstadt based FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) intends to build an international accelerator facility. The practices DGI Bauwerk and schneider+schumacher were able to convince those responsible that they could deliver the optimal design and realization. A total of 20 buildings for experiments, laboratories and plant rooms are scheduled to be finished by 2022. On an area of almost 150,000 m² the scientists will research matter, the origin of the universe and its development.

DOXX – Quayside Development at Mainz Customs Port, Mainz/Germany

schneider+schumacher's design for the redevelopment of the quayside at Mainz customs port combines a myriad of requirements in one distinctively shaped building. DOXX is not simply a residential building with a portion devoted to commercial use. It will act as a pivotal project in remodelling the custom harbour area into an attractive neighbourhood. The distinct shape of the building and the decision to raise all apartments to the upper floors is central to its concept.

MBS Education and Conference Centre

In Europe’s second largest baroque castle schneider+schumacher has just completed a modern study and conference centre for Mannheim Business School. Dug into the garden, the new intervention and the historic building together now form a remarkable unity that symbolizes not just the desire to safeguard tradition, but to value innovation too.

The new lecture complex is accessed from the Ehrenhof via the former castle kitchen. From here, a lift and a generous staircase lead down into the double-height extension below ground. A forum opens onto two lecture rooms, a conference room, and ten so-called ‘break-out rooms’. A wide glass frontage opens up the campus to the castle garden. On entering the new building, one sees the entire lecture room complex, with views extending to the garden – there’s nothing reminiscent of a coal cellar here.

Starting in the autumn of 2017, the new study and conference centre will be occupied by students fine-tuning their skills for a career in top management.
