The beginning of everything is the development of a guiding idea. This is achieved by taking into account all project-related framework conditions. We strive to do justice to the special character of the place and the purpose of the building. Our aim is to achieve the highest degree of simplicity and to have a plausible and appropriate result. Good proportions and an obvious combination of aesthetic features are just as important in this context as the consideration of technical aspects. When planning corporate spaces, internal structure and philosophy are reflected in the architectural design as well as ground plans and interior.
Recent projects range from business headquarters and residential buildings, to monument conservation projects, as well as interior and product design.
Our areas of expertise:
Aldi Nord Campus – Office & Business Development
BAIDs remarkable building design won 1st prize in a competition for the new headquarter of Aldi Nord, one of the world’s leading discount store chains. The campus offers work space for up to 800 employees and includes a day care center and several sports facilities. Key aspects of the design idea are communication hubs throughout the complex, and the large plaza with a glass roof in the center of the main building.

DB Schenker AG / The Grid – Office & Business Development
The new headquarters building of DB Schenker is unmistakable in its cubature. The two X-shaped houses ensure an exceptional appearance from all points of view. A light metal facade, the horizontal and vertical structure of which is supported by white elements, defines the outer skin of the building. It offers space for 900 workplaces and over 200 parking spots. ‘The Grid’ was awarded the DGNB Platinum Certificate for its excellent degree of sustainability.

Warburgstrasse 35 – 37 – Residential Development
In Hamburg’s top location next to the Alster lake, BAID planned a new residential building with 42 luxurious city apartments. For reasons of urban heritage conservation, the historic facade of the building complex must be maintained in its entirety and was cut off in an elaborate process. Three additional levels with panoramic windows and a green roof create a distinctive contrast to the historic appearance, and as such complete the exceptional new building.
