Superkilen is a heterogenous site-collage in a dense, centrally located neighbourhood in Copenhagen. The strongly international quarter with a mix of different cultures is to be revitalized using open space as a physical framework. At Superkilen, a new transfer of significative elements from other places gives meaning and ambience. Simultaneously, this transfer will reflect and engage the quarter’s urban reality. Superkilen is a contemporary, innovative urban version of a universal garden.
The key component for the new Concert Hall’s design is a new, independent solitaire that complements the existing ensemble - built in the 1960s - of the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, Germany. Continuing the typological principle of the existing building and its integration into the landscape, this concept adds a new spatial and acoustic experience to the site. By highlighting a special relationship between equality and difference, this design enhances the qualities of both buildings.
In the course of planning the capital’s new airport (BER), the Berlin Senate decided to close Tegel Airport (TXL). A research and industrial park for urban technologies called “Berlin TXL – The Urban Tech Rebuplic” should arise on this area. TOPOTEK 1 compiled for the “TXL Design Manual guidelines for the future development of the area and describes rules and principles, e. g. for building density as well as open spaces. Its objective is to give the site an identity with a distinct appearance.
