Sascha Zander and Christian Roth founded the office zanderrotharchitekten in Berlin in 1999. The young team aimed not just to consider architecture, but also construction. They therefore developed an effective building group concept, with which they have themselves developed and implemented numerous housing development projects in Berlin. In addition to their innovative focus of housing development, the office is equally committed to designing schools, developing technical office buildings and continuing consideration of unpopular prefabricated “Plattenbau” housing.
The architecture of zanderrotharchitekten is characterised by a consistent concept, organisation and design, as evident in the multi-award winning residential estate in Zelterstraße and the apartment buildings in Christburger Straße, Liebigstraße and Pasteurstraße.
zanderrotharchitekten is a competent, professional contact for all innovative planning and and construction tasks. zanderrotharchitekten covers all performance stages for building planning in accordance with the German fee structure for architects and engineers (HOAI). Depending on the task at hand, we involve experienced expert offices for planning purposes, allowing us to offer our customers general planning services in addition to building planning:
ze05 - New development of a residential estate Zelterstrasse 5, Berlin
The building in Zelterstrasse consists of 23 townhouses, which are aligned to create a homogenous volume with 10 summerhouses behind it and 12 penthouses above it. In between, there is a large unplotted garden courtyard with a garage beneath it. The advantages of one’s “own home” while retaining the density of a residential estate add significance to the aspect of community.
li01 - New development of six residential buildings Liebigstrasse 1, Berlin
The ensemble of six point houses is situated in the midst of a 5.000 m2 park-like landscape. The new “quarter” is quiet and condenses the existing urban structure in a gentle way. The free-standing buildings are positioned at a distance of 15 m from each other and are open in all directions. They benefit from their mutually staggered position, ideal natural lighting and diverse visual references to the green surroundings.
pa1925 - New development of a residential ensemble and a retail store Pasteurstrasse 19-25, Berlin
Realized as a joint venture between its future residents, this project comprises of fifty-one units spread across four separate buildings. The complex stands on a site previously occupied by a freestanding supermarket, which has been seamlessly integrated into the ground floor of the building facing the street. Behind the front house are three “garden houses,” which are grouped around a communal courtyard that has been placed on the roof of the ground-floor supermarket.
