University Campus III Heilbronn, 3rd phase

Scheduled to be completed in 2019, two new buildings will house the HHN Faculty of Business and Transport anagement and the director’s office. As the total space of the available lot is now smaller than in the original plans, the density in the third section of the campus will be slightly higher than in the preceding design stages. The open spaces, which form the core of this third sector, will be defined by the library that is shared by all institutions present on the site. In order to underscore its singular function it will unlike the other buildings on the campus have a glass façade.

Prevention centre for BGW and VBG, Hamburg

The prevention centre for VBG (social accident insurance institution for the administrative sector) and BGW (for non-state institutions in the health and welfare service sectors) constitutes another prominent building block in Hamburg’s HafenCity, at its eastern end, next to Freihafenelbbrücke bridge. The new building for professional training serves as a new landmark and gateway to the city for people coming from the south by train. The tower and the base are conceived as one piece of design, united by a tightly structured mineral façade forming a monolithic grand sculpture in several warm hues of brick. The construction of the centre, realized with BIM, begins in April 2019.

Arena du Pays d’Aix

The new arena, official residence of the famous PAUC handball club, is situated on a freeway intersection in the south-west of Aix-en-Provence, 35 minutes from Marseille. At first sight the arena has no front or back, since every side of the façade is treated equally: A façade made up of metallic ellipses stacked like layered contours. The large form embraces a central “cauldron” with six thousand seats and a training hall with a capacity for two thousand spectators. Being highly flexible, the central hall allows various configurations and flexibility, being utilized for sporting and cultural events, including concerts, theater and exhibitions. The arena, entirely realized with BIM, has already received numerous awards including the Architizer Award, AIT Award, Chicago Athenaeum and the Archi Design Club Award.
