About us

Eike Becker_Architekten work on the future of cities. Their portfolio comprises urban planning, high-rise buildings, cultural and residential structures, offices and hotels.

Since December 1999, Eike Becker and Helge Schmidt have jointly managed the office Eike Becker_Architekten in Berlin. With decades of experience in the design and realization of complex urban building projects, they enthusiastically see each project through to the last screw. The office understands cities as the most complex formation of human society. Cities are much more than a collection of lots, buildings, streets and squares, since their single elements constantly shape spatial and social networks that correspond to each other in an interferential manner. From this increased experience and knowledge of interference the office has coined its own method of thinking and planning: Superferenz.

Namu

The high-rise building with the name Namu at the Kaiserleikreisel, between Offenbach and Frankfurt, is being built as a timber hybrid structure. At 124 meters, it will be the tallest building in Europe to be constructed using this method. And with its overall concept, it will provide the blueprint for innovative, sustainable construction. A hybrid construction that combines a proven approach with progressive, innovative ideas.

Die Macherei M50

With its aluminium-glass façade, the 89-metre-high Postbank building on Hallesches Ufer is reminiscent of the famous Seagram Building by Mies van der Rohe in New York. However, even the buildings of the classic modern era will eventually no longer be up to date if they do not comply with current technical standards and changed user requirements. The Postbank Tower will now be comprehensively renovated and transformed into a modern high-rise office as part of the "Macherei" mixed-use complex.

F.A.Z. Tower

With their design for an office building on Europa-Allee, Eike Becker_Architekten won an international competition awarded by the city of Frankfurt. This high-rise office building consists of two slender discs which are turned out of the axis and shifted against one another and provide a stylistic nod to the Praedium's lively design language. The building, which is an architectural commitment to the value of a unified Europe, has become the new headquarters of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
