We are architects. As specialists for the special situation and for the specific solution, we believe in discourse - among ourselves, with partners and clients.

About us

RKW Architektur + is one of the biggest architecture firms in Germany. Founded in 1950, it has grown continually and has developed into a leading player in many areas – in the construction of office, administration and residential buildings, in research and development projects in the industry or in the educational sector as well as in retail architecture. RKW Architektur + is not headed by one architect, but by nine – the partners, each one with his or her personal skills and experience. Together with around 420 employees from more than 32 nations, RKW offers private and public clients a comprehensive range of services in all classic service phases plus general planning, construction and quality management, BIM planning as well as project development, moderation, and consulting services. This triad of people and processes leading to successful projects is also the firm’s motto: people – process – projects.

iCampus, Munich - Office Building

iCampus Munich - vibrant, open, communicative. For the client Rohde & Schwarz, RKW Architektur + has designed and realized the "House of Communication" - an ensemble of three buildings (i5, i6 and i7), which is characterized by an uncompromising, innovative planning approach: from the inside out. Starting from the social heart in the center, flexible, user-oriented working worlds (interior design: HENN) extend to the facade designed by KAAN Architecten from Rotterdam.

Ready to make an impact?
As an architectural practice, we can contribute to a better world for people and the climate, and we work systematically to achieve this.
We take sustainable building to a new level. With our sustainability.lab and the sustainability.tools we have developed, we have an innovative and equally solid basis for this. We have the know-how - and the conviction is growing. We also have developed an extensive material database for our daily work. Only sustainable products and ecological materials are recorded in this digital tool. Here our teams can find proven solutions and at the same time post their own recommendations. This saves a lot of research time and improves the quality of the results.

What could urban planning and typological answers for a new urbanity in the 21st century look like?
Answers to this question are sought by the design.lab, founded in 2019, which consists of the "young wild ones" at RKW Architektur + who want to provide impulses on current socio-political and architectural issues and contribute them to the discussion.
Housing shortage, urban densification, land recycling or innovative mobility concepts - topics like these are what we work on. The focus is our vision of urban life in the future.
