The Kö-Bogen II Ensemble was honoured with the DGNB Diamond award for its remarkable and ambitious architecture. This rare recognition is a complement to the DGNB Platinum certification, which the Kö-Bogen II achieved with the highest sustainability fulfillment level ever attained for a commercial building. The decision was made unanimously by the DGNB appointed design commission of three renowned architects and critics.
The mixed-use retail and office building reaches iconic quality through the experiment of its green façade. The addition of this new structure to the existing post-war architecture creates a captivating fusion of eras and uses, resulting into a place with undeniable allure. Each façade is tailored to its respective surroundings, adapting both shape and proportion, thus seamlessly blending into the urban fabric. The publicly accessible lawn on the pavilion building’s roof expands the versatile open space of the Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz.
