The Betonsilo is a prominent feature of the striking Plange Mühle industrial architecture, which dates back to 1906. Since 2001, the entire area has undergone renovations and redevelopment in phases – always in close collaboration with the heritage preservation authorities.
The abandoned piece of industrial architecture awakens to a new purpose. Once a utilitarian storage of grain, the curved shell transforms into an intimate and welcoming place, accommodating two clinics and various healthcare facilities. The arrayed compartments provide harmonious and functional working spaces as well as ambient and serene ward retreats.
Today, the Betonsilo is a vivid part of the thriving Plange Mühle campus, embodying the spirit of the present while honoring the past. Its reinvention is a testament to the potential of existing structures, its low carbon footprint - a reminder of the power of preservation.
