About us

Since its foundation in 1985, our practice stands at the forefront of sustainable architecture. We develop and build projects of any size and typology in almost every part of the world — consistently in accordance with the highest green building standards, such as Green Star, Green Mark, BREEAM, DGNB, LEED, Minergie and CASBEE.

Using the term supergreen®, we pursue a comprehensive sustainability concept, pushing the boundaries of the required standards, always with a particular attention accorded to ecology, inclusion and social return.

Our multinational, interdisciplinary team aims to respond in a specific way to each location and, at the same time, provide nuanced architectural solutions to critical and sensitive questions.

With our main office situated in the vibrant Düsseldorf Media Harbor, we extend our global presence through a branch in Singapore and legal subsidiaries in St. Moritz, Sydney, and the U.S.

Lanserhof Sylt, Germany

The new Lanserhof Sylt medical resort is nestled between the dunes, on the Wadden Sea in the middle of List and yet far from any hustle. The building accommodates 68 rooms as well as a treatment and medical area. The reduced timeless design language, the use of natural materials and the flowing shapes interlace with the surroundings and create a serene and harmonious ensemble. Privacy and deceleration are the integral soft elements of the resort’s health-promoting architecture.

Toranomon Hill Towers, Tokyo

The central design element of the Toranomon high-rise ensemble is the rich plant life that interweaves the skyscrapers with the surrounding neighbourhood, reflecting the greenery of the adjacent historic Atago park. The towers provide a contemporary urban response and achieve a green replacement rate of 65% and the highest CASBEE “S” level. The mixed-use complex is a true international business hub featuring top-standard offices, retail space combined with high-end living and leisure offerings.

Kö-Bogen Ensemble, Düsseldorf

The Kö-Bogen Ensemble concludes Düsseldorf’s urban revival infusing vibrant greenery into the cityscape while delicately framing two iconic and heritage-protected buildings. Each façade is tailored to its respective surroundings, adapting both shape and proportion. The green envelope features 30.000 plants and stands as an architectural element greatly enhancing the microclimate. It also represents a paradigm shift: a departure from the automotive era and a turn towards people-oriented planning.
