About us

Baumschlager Eberle Architeckten is an internationally active architecture firm with over 40 years of experience and more than 600 realised projects. We develop sustainable, long-term and value-driven architecture, guided by a clear methodology that translates complex requirements into robust, efficient and adaptable buildings.

Our work focuses on long-lasting structures rather than short-term programs. Buildings are designed to remain relevant for decades, allowing flexible use throughout their entire life cycle. Sustainability is understood holistically – encompassing energy efficiency, durability, economic viability and long-term usability.

Through precise analysis, transparent decision-making and proven architectural principles, we create architecture that supports stable performance and long-term value for owners, users and society.

“Only architecture that is loved will last.”

New high-rise block, Böblingen District Hospital Böblingen, Germany - Landmark tower for new healthcare campus A high-rise block for a variety of non-clinical uses was to be built for a new hospital project. Baumschlager Eberle Architekten’s design makes a striking statement at the entrance to the new campus, while the building’s upmarket feel corresponds to its principal function of teaching in both symbolism and content.

Hansaallee/Schwalmstraße, Düsseldorf, Germany | For a new type of neighbourhood with a focus on housing Baumschlager Eberle Architekten have developed a new ‘piece of city’, a quarter that offers mixed urban living and creates spaces capable of accommodating both homes and workplaces for the coming decades.

New Česká Spořitelna HQ Campus Prague, Czech Republic | A new district for Prague A complex task with a clear response. To ensure the integration of its new project into the surrounding urban fabric, Baumschlager Eberle Architekten have converted a central railway station site into a new quarter with its own urban character: a network of mixed-used buildings, generous public space and green areas.

‘Meiller Gardens’ Residential Development, München-Moosach, Germany | A new, green neighbourhood was to be built on a former factory site. Baumschlager Eberle Architekten contributed four buildings. They offer both harmony and individuality and combine value for money and green credentials thanks to the high thermal storage capacity and a perfectly balanced window-to-wall ratio.

Zentralklinikum Hochrhein Waldshut-Tiengen, Germany | ‘Healing environment’ concept An exemplar of hospital design, the Clinic will be the centrepiece of the healthcare campus on which it is to be built, a place with its own identity where people feel at home. Baumschlager Eberle Architekten have devised a ‘healing environment’ concept that is future-proof in terms of both energy and urban design.

Carl Zeiss, Projekt „Annecy“ Ebnat, Germany | Identity-Defining Architecture with a Future Sustainable construction, as well as a cost-effective, functional, and flexible design, were the key requirements for the new Carl Zeiss AG campus. Baumschlager Eberle Architekten won the competition with a concept that impressed in terms of design, economy, ecology, and future viability.

Frankfurter Allee, Berlin, Germany | For a new type of neighbourhood with a focus on housing Baumschlager Eberle Architekten have developed a new ‘piece of city’, a quarter that offers mixed urban living and creates spaces capable of accommodating both homes and workplaces for the coming decades

2226 Confluence, Lyon, France | The brief demanded a mixed residential development with school provision and high environmental standards in Lyon’s Confluence district. Baumschlager Eberle Architekten designed one of the five apartment blocks on the bioclimatic 2226 principle, a byword for excellence in energy consumption and air quality.

With the iX Campus in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, we are developing a sustainable research and education campus in a sensitive forest setting west of Paris. The project brings together academic, laboratory and innovation spaces into a connected ensemble that supports exchange and long-term adaptability. Timber construction, natural daylight and reduced land sealing define the architectural approach. The Passivhaus and BBCA-certified entrance building demonstrates how low-carbon architecture can be delivered in a functional and economically viable way. The campus reflects our commitment to creating future-proof educational environments with a strong ecological foundation.

2226 JED Schlieren Schlieren, Switzerland | The method 2226 on a new scale A visionary office block was planned for the JED site in Schlieren. Designed using the innovative method 2226, Baumschlager Eberle Architekten’s building sets new standards in terms of cost, energy and land-use efficiency – as well as comfort – using the tools of architecture but virtually no building services.
