About us
Kleihues + Kleihues is an internationally successful architectural firm operating in the range of architecture, general planning, urban design, interior design and landscape planning. The history of the office goes back to the founding year 1963. Today Michael Alshut and Jan Kleihues are leading the company as managing partners, with offices in Berlin and Münster. With decades of experience in planning and the realization of complex construction projects, we offer unique architectural solutions for cultural buildings, office, hotel, residential, education, retail and health. The functional attributes of our designs and the durability of the construction are the basis for an economical, as well as ecological use of available resources. Upbeat, Berlin
The Berlinian. High-rise at Alexanderplatz, Berlin
The department store "Galeria Kaufhof" at Alexanderplatz, planned and realised in 2004-2006 according to plans by Kleihues + Kleihues, is to be supplemented by a 146m high high-rise tower and an 8-storey extension of the existing building. The uses are independent of each other and are largely accessed separately. The high demands on inner flexibility and general sustainability are taken into account in the planning – they range from a smart façade to weight-saving cap ceilings.

X-Dock, Münster
The port area in Münster is the most important urban development area and the city’s most attractive new attraction. A harbour quarter is being created here, in which modern architectural solitaires come together to form a lively ensemble. The expressive structure for Fiege Logistik and its partners creates a spatial link with its direct surroundings and, with its building wings, welcomes visitors and users of the building with an inviting gesture. The origin of the linking of trade routes, the intersection, is the guiding principle of the new logistics centre. This guiding principle is not only reflected in the shape of the building, but also in the development core, and enables a large number of links between different spatial units, both horizontally and vertically.
