LAVA - Laboratory for Visionary Architecture
About us
LAVA, the Laboratory for Visionary Architecture, is a network of over 120 architects, computational designers, and researchers. Founded in 2007 by Chris Bosse, Alexander Rieck, and Tobias Wallisser, LAVA operates offices in Berlin, Ho Chi Minh City, Stuttgart, and Sydney.
As an architectural laboratory, LAVA leverages digital technology, research, and imagination to solve complex problems. This way of working allows the studio to innovate, to design intelligently, and to build more with less. The result is a vision for a built environment that is both progressive and enduring.
LAVA's portfolio spans civic infrastructure, cultural pavilions, and urban master plans on four continents. Completed works include the German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, the KACST Innovation Tower in Riyadh, Philips Lighting Headquarters in Eindhoven, Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3 Marketplace, and the Bayreuth Youth Hostel. Recent and current projects include the Expo 2030 Riyadh master plan, a master plan for Trojena in Neom, and Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City.
