Embedded in a dense urban context, the Xujiahui Sports Park in Shanghai is accessible from all sides and is open 24/7 for sports and recreation. In the past, the area was a venue for professional sports events and lacked facilities for public sports activities. The design envisages the preservation of the large stadiums. The underground traffic infrastructure, the elevated roof garden landscape and partially lowered sports fields make way for a calm central oasis for the residents.
