About us

The architecture firm JSWD was founded in Cologne, Germany, in 2000. Today, JSWD works from several locations and is managed by the founding partners Olaf Drehsen and Frederik Jaspert as well as the partners Christian Mammel, Mario Pirwitz and Tobias Unterberg. Together, they have the vision of managing around 280 employees from 33 nations. The office consists of architects, interior designers, support staff, model makers and administrative staff with in-depth multidisciplinary knowledge who work successfully throughout Europe and abroad.

JSWDs architecture is characterized by a dense synthesis of shapes, functionality and selected materials. These three elements are inseparable and assume an equal, playful bond with all other requirements within the construction task. The resulting buildings reveal the continuous pursuit of clear concepts and formal clarity.

Products & Services

We develop the identity of our buildings as the result of location specifics and the intended function. We convert the client’s self-concept into Corporate Architecture. JSWD’s approach links conceptual clarity to the reserved utilization of formal means. Many of our structures distinguish themselves by an efficient and intelligent exterior combined with technical knowhow and design requirements.

We are capable of dealing with all planning service levels. As the general planner, we perform all planning services required for a construction project incl. project control. We collaborate for all construction projects (domestic and foreign) with specialist engineers who are familiar with our methods. If required, our projects will comply with certification terms by DGNB, according to LEED and BREEAM, etc.

Neuer Kanzlerplatz Bonn

Three buildings with a hexagonal floor plan nestle at the corners of the site, creating a central, public open space. The 28-storey high point develops from one of the up to seven-storey office buildings. This landmark creates a strong presence and anchors the new office quarter in the urban fabric, visible from afar. The ensemble in the direct vicinity of the UN Quarter is impressive thanks to the variations in the façade made of white architectural concrete.

Mobility Hub Elbinseln, Hamburg, Germany

The new "Zusammenhub" will be the communicative center of the district. The building consists of the four-storey bus depot and the triangular commercial building. The staggered back of the green connecting element creates an inviting gesture towards the S-Bahn station. The flowing and organic architecture allows the compact ensemble to fit naturally into the urban context.
